An entrepreneur and philanthropist in San Francisco, Vikram “Vik” Uppal founded the nonprofit organization Aid India Foundation, where he oversees the foundation’s humanitarian efforts. Vikram Uppal’s vision is to bring high-quality and affordable education to underserved children in rural India.

Aid India dedicates its resources toward providing schools and other education opportunities and establishes effective partnerships with other NGOs working in the area. These efforts have resulted in the creation of the Eureka Schools.

Located in Koovathur, Kanchipuram, and Vembakkam, Thiruvannamalai, in Tamil Nadu, the Eureka Schools provide a level of learning that children from lower- and lower-middle-income families in rural India are typically not afforded. The schools strive to help children with little or no family support, limited income, and few social skills, meet their full potentials, as well as the educational benchmarks associated with their grade levels. Using an outcome-oriented teaching approach and providing a non-threatening learning atmosphere, the schools operate in stark contrast to traditional schools in the area.
